چکیده

Particle and nuclear physicists devoted an increasingly intensive effort during the last few decades to searching for evidence of neutrino mass. Recent announcements by the Superkamiokande collaboration of the possible oscillation of atmospheric neutrinos [1] and very high statistics measurements of the solar neutrinos [2] brought us one step closer to understanding the nature of neutrino mass and mixings. Experiments imply that neutrino mass is small and the seesaw mechanism [3], to the development of which Dick Slansky

Supersymmetric models predict a natural dark-matter candidate , stable baryonic Q-balls. They could be copiously produced in the early Universe as a by-product of the Affleck-Dine baryogenesis. I review the cosmological and astrophysical implications , methods of detection, and the present limits on this form of dark matter.

A gauged phase symmetry with its anomalies cancelled by a Green-Schwarz mechanism, broken at a large scale by an induced Fayet-Iliopoulos term, is a generic feature of a large class of superstring theories. It induces many desirable phenomenological features: Yukawa coupling hierarchy, the emergence of a small Cabibbo-like expansion parameter, relating the Weinberg angle to b − τ unification, a...

The second derivative of the luminosity distance with respect to the redshift is written in terms of the deceleration parameter q0. We point out that the third derivative contains the information of the sound speed of the cosmic matter as well as the curvature of the universe. There is a relation between the coefficients in a flat universe model with matter such that cs0(1 + wx0) = 0 (cs0 is th...
